What To Expect

Uffizi Galleries (Gallerie degli Uffizi)

Begin with the charming story of the Uffizi, once a Medici palace and now a home for Renaissance art. Look at the Medici legacy—these patrons who changed the artistic soul of Florence. Immediately on the entrance, do stop to admire the portrait of Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici, the patron who left this collection of hers to the city. Then go up the great staircase as our guide tells us fascinating stories about the building and all the hidden tales behind the works of art. Our expert guide will brightly show the Renaissance time, giving famous great works like Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus,” Leonardo da Vinci’s “Annunciation,” and the only flat art done by Michelangelo that is alive today. This well planned 2-hour tour lets you know the basic parts of the Uffizi’s collection without feeling overwhelmed. Your visit will be truly enriching as you gain a deeper appreciation for the “who, what, and why” that underpins the art. Also, you may come back to any artworks that caught your interest after the tour.
