7 hoursThe Florence in a Day Semi-Private Tour lets you see the great Italian city known as the home of the Renaissance.
This well-planned trip gives you a chance to enjoy the best parts of the city in a safe and semi-private setting, with no more than six people allowed in each group.
Florence͏ is a city of wonderful beauty, known for its great buildings and art that mostly come from the Renaissance period.
It was in this time, with support from the Medici Family, that many structures seen in this tour were built including the Uffizi Gallery and the grand marble-covered Cathedral known as the Duomo.
Florence presents a feast for the senses, something your erudite guide will be able to relate most gracefully with the stunning history she shares during this full-day semi-private tour.
Your local expert brings you face-to-face with Florence’s Masterpieces: Michelangelo’s David, Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and La Primavera, and Ponte Vecchio Bridge all in one day.
The LivTours Florence Full Day Tour will start with a meeting of the guests and their guide at Piazza della Signoria. This is an L-shaped piazza in the center of town where some of Florence’s most important buildings stand. As you marvel at centuries of architectural beauty, allow your expert local guide to share with you the history that lies behind impressive facades. The Palazzo Vecchio, Town Hall shares this very important square with the Uffizi Gallery which houses one of the most significant collections of art anywhere in the world plus Palazzo Uguccioni whose facade was crafted by artist Raphael himself. There can be no better place from which to begin your tour!
30 minutes - Free entrance
Begin at the Uffizi, formerly the working offices of the great Medici Family, where sit masterpieces inside an esteemed gallery from artists Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci— even Caravaggio who painted for Medici corridors. This is a place that has been welcoming people since 1765 and later on formally recognized as a museum in 1865. This guide will introduce works like The Birth of Venus, a famous painting representing the mythological goddess as she comes forth from the sea standing on a shell. Also inside is Michelangelo’s Doni Tondo, commissioned by an important Tuscan family; it offers a picture of the Holy Family with the Virgin Mary in which she is most prominently displayed. It would be correct to say that one could spend hours—perhaps even days—inside the Uffizi. The highlights of masterpieces within this remarkable collection are what your guide will bring forward. After you have seen the Uffizi, there will be time for a good Tuscan meal. Your guide can tell you about places to eat in the area. Please note that the cost of lunch is not part of this tour.
3 hours - Entrance ticket included
After a lovely Tuscan lunch, join the LivTours Florence Full Day Tour. On this semi-private walk, your expert guide tells great stories of Florence while you see buildings in Gothic, Romanesque, and Renaissance styles. Look at the Ponte Vecchio Bridge, the oldest bridge in Florence now filled with gold shops hiding a long-ago secret path.
1 hour - Free entrance
Admire the outer dome of the Duomo, the work of Brunelleschi, to learn of the marvels about his creation. Hear the tales and be amazed at the story of the dome that so gracefully swathed Florence. Listen to what famous bronze doors of the Baptistery tell us- in history and in fable.
1 hour - Free entrance
Your last stop is the Galleria dell' Accademia. In it, you will view the enormous 17 feet marble statue of David- work of Michelangelo. Done between 1501 and 1504 when Michelangelo was a mere 29 years of age. The sculpting of David moved far beyond his original context to emerge as one of, if not the most, highly esteemed and recognized works of art in the world.
